Governing Body


The subscribers to the memorandum shall be the members of the society. The State Government may from time to time nominate any official of the Government or public as member of the Society.

    1. The Governing Body of the Society
  • Chief Minister, Orissa ( who shall be the President of the Governing Body)
  • Minister of Forest
  • Chief Secretary to Government of Orissa
  • Agriculture Production Commissioner, Orissa
  • Secretary to Government, Forest & Environment Department
  • Secretary to Government, Finance Department
  • Secretary to Government, Health Department
  • Secretary to Government, Science & Technology Department
  • Secretary to Government, Scheduled Tribe & Scheduled Caste  Development Department.
  • Secretary to Government, Agriculture Department
  • Secretary to Government, Industries, Department
  • Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Orissa
  • Special Secretary Forest & Environment Department
  • Special Secretary Planning & Co-ordination Department
  • Dean Research, Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology
  • One Representative of Medicinal Plant Growers Associations in the state to be nominated by Forest & Environment  Department
  • One NGO representatives to be nominated by the Government
  • One Representative of Registered Ayurvedic Pharmacies in Orissa to be nominated by Health Dept.
  • The Chief Executive Officer of the Board will be the Member Secretary


    2. Functions of the Governing Body
  • The powers of management of the Society shall vest in the Governing Body which will be the supreme body with regard to all affairs of the Society.
  • The Governing Body shall have full powers to accord administrative approval to the Annual Plan of Operation relating to project implementation and project management
  • The Governing Body will exercise full powers relating to policy decision and framing of rules for fulfilling the objectives of the Society
  • The Governing Body may delegate specific authorities unless otherwise provided for in this bye-law to the Chief Executive Officer or any other employee of the society

  • Frame or adopt  any rules for smooth functioning of the Society
    1. Without prejudice to the provisions of the bye-laws the Governing Body shall
    2. Finalise the Annual budget of the Society.
    3. Review the position relating to the income and expenditure of the society periodically and finalise the annual report.
    4. Constitute such committees as considered necessary from time to time, for affective execution of the programmes, schemes and projects, and
  • The Governing Body shall meet once in Six months or more frequently if necessary. Ordinarily seven days notice shall be given before a meeting of the Government Body. However, in case of urgency the meeting may be held at a shorter notice. The meeting of the Governing Body shall be presided over by the President of the Society or in his absence by any other member of the Governing Body as decided by the members present in the meeting of the Governing Body. A minimum of ten members shall form the quorum for the meeting of the Governing Body
  • The tenure of the nominated members shall be for two years. One nominated member shall not be nominated more than twice consecutively
